Overview
Thorogood’s Agentic Implementation Framework accelerates enterprise-grade design, delivery, and adoption of agentic AI systems, empowered by Databricks Mosaic AI and Agent Bricks through a structured, stepping-stone approach. The framework starts with exploration and visioning, leading quickly into pilot development, followed by iterative cycles of value analysis, roadmap refinement, and system evolution.
How does it work?
Our framework keeps business goals and business value at the forefront at all times. It begins with a 1-day workshop focused on mapping of targeted business processes and procedures alongside required people and data inputs, including identification of the toolkit required to perform these processes, assessment of supporting data assets, quantification of business value and proportion of cases covered by each tool or step, as well as classification of complexity of tool implementation. A key output is an optimal pathway, prioritizing initial implementation based on lower complexity and greater and more assured business value, followed by subsequent steps that incrementally address additional use cases and coverage areas.
Alongside pathway definition, our implementation framework quickly addresses architecture design, infrastructure build, and technical planning for each stepping stone, defining how Databricks Mosaic AI and Agent Bricks tooling, as well as existing organizational tooling and assets, will be used to deliver the prioritized use case and subprocesses. We take a wide view of important architectural decisions, armed with a reference architecture highlighting technical possibilities within Databricks. This architecture spans everything from direct agentic system components such as orchestrator agents (“Multi-Agent Supervisors”), model serving endpoints, MCP servers for custom tool definition, and Genie Spaces for action through analysis of structured data assets, through to key enablers of successful surrounding application delivery such as data storage and governance through Unity Catalog, Thorogood’s end-to-end metadata-driven data flow and data quality frameworks implemented in Databricks which accelerate time to value and reduce processing and maintenance burdens across source datasets, application deployment and management in Databricks Apps, and more.
Following the workshop, supplementary discovery, and architecture and infrastructure setup, a working pilot is stood up quickly, using Agent Bricks starters to quickly prove value in key areas depending on overarching business goals. Our framework then iterates rapidly over 4-6 weeks between feedback sessions and agentic system refinement through accuracy analysis, performance streamlining, and user experience improvement, to roll out a pilot system alongside existing business processes for parallel run.
At this point, the implementation framework includes a wider business value re-assessment and evaluates taking subsequent “steps” along the defined pathway hand-in-hand with that delivered value, each of which may consist of 6-8 weeks of build-out, iteration, and continued optimization and assessment.
