SAP BI is the obvious choice for operational reporting out of SAP ERP systems. Extending it to wider BI applications and to non-SAP data will be most successful for processes that are stable and well-defined and in organisations where there are mature SAP BI skills.
 
SAP also provides the option for clients to extend its core offering with its integration of Business Objects and OutlookSoft into the SAP BI platform. Clients can also benefit from using best of breed BI products from other vendors such as Microsoft, with which SAP has a joint competency centre working towards better integration. These options extend the range of applications for which SAP BI is suitable.
