What is business intelligence?
Business intelligence is where knowledge of technology answers business needs to create value for companies. Business intelligence systems give firms the full picture of key aspects of their business.

Thorogood appears on FOX Business News to talk about BI: During a time of economic slow down, many businesses scramble to find solutions to counteract the negative effects in the economy. One emerging method is business intelligence, so what exactly is business intelligence...

Business Intelligence

Business intelligence helps maximise revenues, maximise market knowledge, improve customer service, enhance customer relationship management, reduce costs, save resources and increase performance. Business intelligence (BI) drives these and other benefits for companies regardless of size, locality or industry.

Performance
BI systems run 'over and above' a firm's transaction processing systems and enterprise resource planning systems. They collect data from many different systems, reorganise it and present it in useful ways to people responsible for the firm's performance. As well as the firm's own information, BI systems can utilise information from outside the firm about market performance.

This information may come from suppliers, customers or via data brokers. Whether based on company data, external data, or both, the right BI system shows the companies who use it how to leverage greater value from their resources.
